Webinar on Insight into Interpol’s New Initiative on Stop Payment held on 19 September 2024

The Asian Bankers Association (ABA) and the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) held an exclusive webinar on “Insights into Interpol’s New Initiative on Stop Payment” on Thursday, 19 September 2024.

The 60-minutes webinar was moderated by Sandra Smith from ATMIA and featured Sungyong Kang, Criminal Intelligence Officer at Interpol who provided an insightful view of a new initiative called the Global Rapid Intervention of Payments (I-GRIP).

The audience, composed of ATMIA members and ABA attendees, gained valuable information about how I-GRIP works with financial institutions to stop suspicious fraudulent payments and withhold criminal proceeds before they can be dissipated.

Criminal proceeds continue to cross borders faster and more efficiently, so international cooperation between Law Enforcement Agencies is crucial for swift and timely recovery. I-GRIP was launched to achieve this aim and the webinar discussed how the I-GRIP mechanism works with financial institutions to halt suspicious fraudulent payments.
