The ABA Policy Advocacy Committee held a record breaking meeting on August 3rd 2022 with a registered audience of 667 participants from 37 countries and territories. The meeting, the 2nd of its kind for the year, discussed three critical issues affecting commercial banks: Digital transformation, Cyber Security Management, and Cooperation Achieving Sustainable Goals.
Opened by ABA Chairman Mr. Eugene Acevedo, President and CEO, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), and chaired by Ms. Christina Alvarez, Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Planning Group (RCBC), the meeting featured four Position Papers on above-mentioned topics presented by representatives of ABA member banks.

(1) Digital Transformation by Ms. Fathimath Farihath Waheed, Head of Cards & Payment Governance, and Mr. Badhurudheen Hassan, Head of Retail Banking & Cards from Bank of Maldives, Maldives.
The representatives of Bank of Maldives introduced the measures it has implemented over the past year on its digital transformation journey, on the challenges it has met in driving change and how it overcame them, on its digital banking infrastructure and solutioning, and on its Fintech collaboration.

(2) Cyber Security Management by Suresh Emmanuel, Chief Information Security Officer, Hatton National Bank, Sri Lanka, and Mahdieh Noroozian, Chief Planning & Development Officer, Dotin from Bank Pasargad, Iran.
In representation of Hatton National Bank (HNB), Mr. Suresh Emmanuel provided updates on its continuing efforts to enhance its cyber security system, its cooperation with other financial institutions and technical bodies to strengthen cybersecurity, as well as its experience in protecting against customer fraud.

From her part, Ms. Mahdieh Noroozian from Dotin, an in-house banking solution of Bank Pasargad, presented their CDN system; a cybersecurity system that ensures simultaneous high performance of content distribution under secure conditions using the latest cybersecurity tools, including Threat Hunting, EDR, PAM, SOC, PEN Test, EMS, GRC and Red Team.

(3) Cooperation in Achieving Sustainable Goals by Juan Gabriel Rodriguez Tomas IV, Chief Risk Officer, Risk Management Group, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), Philippines.
Mr. Rodriguez Tomas reported on its recent activities in implementing regulatory framework for Sustainable Finance and how it is addressing new and emerging challenges in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
